The 2021 race season has thankfully fired into life again. After such a turbulent 2020, it now looks like this will be the start of a full season of racing. Our first race of the year took place on Sunday at the famous Harthill track in Cheshire. After some recent track upgrades and changes, the British 4X organisers wanted to test the track out ahead of the first two rounds of Schwalbe British 4X Series in four weeks time. |
After weeks of dry, sunny weather, practice was much of the same. The track was very dry and riding well. Scott looked great and certainly had not lost any speed during the last year! Racing started at 12 and with so many fresh faces at this 4X event there was plenty of race action for the crowds. |
Scott had 3 qualifying races to whittle down the elite field to the fastest 4 riders in the final. Scott made a perfect gate in moto 1 and won that race easily. Then in his next 2 motos, he made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes on the start straight which meant he finished with a couple of second place finishes. This qualified him into the final where he would have second gate pick. |
In the final, Scott had a disaster at the start hitting a rut on the start straight and losing valuable time. He exited the first corners in second and was chasing down the leader. Looking for a place to pass all the way down the track, at the finish line Scott made his move but unfortunately came up just a few centimetres short of taking the win. |
Socially distanced podiums took place in the finish area. Scott said: “Today has been a great day. Lots of new riders here trying 4X for the first time is great to see. For me, just a couple of small mistakes during the day were certainly costly. We always have high expectations and while second is ok, we will now focus in the next three weeks to make sure we are ready to win at the Nationals here.” We just want to take this opportunity to thank all our team sponsors for their continued support in 2021. Now we are finally racing, it feels great to be out there again and giving back to everyone as much as we can. Thank you. |
