So the 2015 race season is finally here and last weekend the first race of the year for Scott Beaumont took place at Manchester for rounds 1 and 2 of the British BMX Series.

Like the last 2 years, as part of Scott’s preparation for the 2015 4X ProTour, Scott has been working with the guys at British Cycling at the indoor BMX facility to fine tune his power and techniques ahead of his mountain bike season.

With a free weekend, we decided it was a great opportunity to see where Scott is at in his preparation so the decision was made to race rounds 1 and 2 of the BMX National Series.

Racing in Championship men against the best UK riders, this was always going to be a tough weekend.

Saturday:

Saturday nearly worked out perfectly. Unbeaten up to the semi final, where Scott then placed 2nd behind training pal Cal Strickland, Scott was in great shape going into the final.

In the final Scott made a decent start and tucked into 3rd into the first turn. In an aggressive move, Scott dived inside to go for 2nd, but came up a fraction short. Heading down the second straight, Scott had lost all his speed and got swelled up by the pack. In turn 2 he was fighting hard and re gained his speed. Charging back from 5th, at the finish line Scott had a photo finish but ended up 3rd. He was stoked at this result:
“After losing so much time in turn 1 I am really happy with 3rd today. Especially as most of the riders I am racing against are half of my age! Great day, but let’s try and make tomorrow better”.

Sunday:

Sunday rolled around and Scott was feeling good. In the motos, Scott had a win, a second and a 4th. Not as consistent as Saturday, but still qualified as the fourth ranked rider. A win in his quarter final was probably his best lap of the weekend. From start to finish with a strong lead.

In the semi final, it all went a little wrong though. With a good start and slotting into 2nd in turn 1, Scott was looking solid, but in turn 2 a rider dived inside of him, pushing him wide. Then another rider hit into Scott and sensing carnage, Scott rode wide. It was all a bit chaotic, but Scott was out of the race.

He wasn’t disappointed at all as the weekend had been all about training and to come away from the race unscathed was the plan!

2014 Schwalbe 4X National Championships – Falmouth

Hi all,

Pete Newman media has just released a fresh film for Yeti Racing UK from the 2014 season. Falmouth was the venue for the 2014 4X National Championships and what a weekend it turned out to be. With sunshine, torential rain and wind, the weekend was unpredictable and challenging for the team.

In qualifying, I was stoked to take the fastest time and give myself the vital inside gate pick all night. With the wind and rain rolling in for the final, a great start and smart riding helped me to take the title and the National Champions jersey for another year.

Check out the film. 2015 race season is fast approaching……..
